Bangalore, Feb 5: In Cyberia, Java might be a language for the cyber intelligentsia, but the rest of us know it as the brew that sustains us through deadlines that always expire yesterday.
And now that we have an outlet where Java percolates just a hop, skip and jump away from the office, Editor, you know where to find us. And that's not all. Java City has added a hard-to-resist lunch menu to its already scrumptious fare.
While we had to trudge up to Lavelle Road for a Cappuccino and cheese straws, temptation has now come calling on us.
The patisserie, where cookies, desserts, chocolates, teacakes, breads and bagels disappeared off the shelves as soon as they appeared, will now also serve exciting lunches.
The light lunches, which were just launched yesterday, include quiches with a choice of cheese and mushroom, spinach and corn and ham and spinach, garden salads with vinaigrette or thousand island dressings, chicken, shrimp and egg salads, open flame grilled mushroom, cheese, chicken and vegetable sandwiches, American sandwiches on butter croissants and a choice of the best coffees from around the world.
Java City, which first opened on Lavelle Road in 1998, continues to be a haven for the cuppa that gets you started off. And the most popular coffee shop in town has an added attraction in its Cunning- ham Road outlet which is still being renovated. Says Raj Madnani, the man behind it all: "We will have recorded videos of Jazz greats like Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong and weekly schedules of programmes will be available in the patisserie."
For some time now, Java City's Lavelle Road outlet has been a studio for artists and designers to exhibit their work.
While customers will have to wait till the renovation is over at Cunningham Road. Madnani is making up for the inconvenience by offering a free cappuccino with every purchase you make.
Now isn't that a cup which cheers?
