PONNAPPA'S EXHIBITION AT JAVA CITY

BANGALORE: From the pages of this newspaper and many others. cartoonist Ponnappa has leapt onto the walls of the city's newest art gallery – Java City Studios on Lavelle Road.
Ponnappa's cartoons-blown-up and framed - are on exhibit here from August 15-30 and open to the public for viewing and sale from 11 am to 8 pm. Artist S.G. Vasudev inaugurated the show on Friday in the presence of Bangalore's glitterati. And they all marvelled at Ponnappa's ready wit, his caustic remarks and most of all his humanism. Ponnappa is one of the few artists who has gone out of his way to teach aspiring young cartoonists.
Java City offers art. coffee and conversation. Founded by Raj Madnani an NRI from New York, the gallery is located in a remodelled old English stone house with a European style patisserie thrown in.
A part of the proceeds will be handed over to the animal welfare group CUPA.
